Creating a paper flower
Time required: 1hour
Do you love flowers, even if you struggle to keep them alive? Then this is for you! Create a 3D flower in paper.
List of materials:
Canson® Mi-Teintes® 160 g/m2 : Cream, Orchid, Canary
Calque Canson®
Craft knife - scissors
Wooden skewer
Wooden bead
Hole punch
Paper glue (with brush applicator)
Template: Fleur
Step 1: Templates
Download the templates for the flower
Print the petals page on your pink paper and transfer the stamens onto yellow paper and the leaves onto Lichen-coloured paper using Canson® Tracing Paper
Step 2: Cutting out
Cut out all the parts of the flower; try to cut inside the line so that it's not visible later.
Cut out the splits at the base of the petals too.
Step 3: Shaping the petals
Bend the leaves slightly, using a brush, for example.
For "split" leaves: put a drop of glue on the leaves and fold them together to create a 3D shape, holding in position for a few seconds.
Step 4: Base
Use a wooden stick (like a skewer) and glue on a wooden bead with a diameter of 3cm onto it; let the glue dry.
Step 5: The centre of the flower
Use the hole punch to create yellow paper confetti which you can glue onto the top of the bead to camouflage the hole.
Then glue the curved stamens one by one at the base of the bead.
Some should be looser whilst others should be glued almost to the top of the bead.
Step 6: Assembling the flower 1/2
Start by glueing the small "split" petals: put a drop of glue on the inside of the petal and put the leaf under the bead.
Hold the petal in place for a few seconds.
Glue 2 petals opposite each other, then the other two. Do the same with the 4 remaining large, split petals by arranging them in a staggered pattern for a well-balanced and more natural effect.
Step 7: Assembling the flower 2/2
Glue the medium-sized petals (curved towards the centre of the flower) and finish by glueing the smaller curved petals at the bottom to create a bigger, open flower.
Step 8: Glueing the leaves
Glue the base of the leaf by pinching it in place on the flower's stem.
Glue petals on to cover the rest of the stem.
